The Shinshu Azumino Half Marathon is a half marathon race held in Azumino city of Nagano Prefecture in June. Newly established in 2015, approximately 5,000 runners participate in the half marathon and the joint family run division also attracts a variety of runners.

The start and finish is held in an athletic park and the course runs through a rural area, then alongside the “Jikkasegi,” an agricultural waterway.

The course itself is mostly flat. The beautiful mountain range of the Hida Mountains reflect on the rice paddy surface, and the cheering from local spectators will boost your stride.

There are plenty of water and aid stations that will keep you fulfilled throughout the entire course.

The lenient three hour time limit attracts fun runners and beginners, and the family run division brings a warm friendly atmosphere to the race.

Participation prizes are very substantial such as t-shirts, rice (5kg), rice balls, sports drinks, and hot spring coupons. Take part in this easygoing half marathon to experience the beautiful scenery of the Japanese countryside.
